Barbara "Basia" Janke is a Polish-born American designer and the founder and leader of Rendex LLC (established in 2012), a commercial design practice within Chicago. Barbara "Basia" Janke is a Polish-born American designer and the founder and leader of Rendex LLC (established in 2012), a commercial design practice within Chicago. Janke was first widely recognized for her contribution to the tremendous movement of transforming public-use storefronts into new and modern-looking shopping malls. Her work has been admired by the Chicago alderman as well as highly recommended by owners of local businesses. Enhanced-looking storefronts have brought a positive impact on economic growth, an increase in foot traffic, and urban development, stimulating influential demographics.
Basia Janke has designed more than 15,000 projects, including wine and spirits stores, beauty merchants, and others.
Raised in Europe, Janke graduated from Mikolaja Kopernika High School in Grajewo, Poland. She went on to earn her degree in Architecture Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2008 with distinction from the UIC Honor Student Society. Janke earned a University Scholarship from the UIC Foundation for a paid internship at Vin

At Rendex LLC, Janke and her studio were awarded the 2015 National Women's Business Enterprise Certification from the WBEN. In 2018, she was honored with the Fellowship at the Blue Rendering Challenge by ArchDaily for the best exterior render, 3D modeling, and visualization of Barcelona and a shopping plaza. She was also elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in Toronto.
Currently a Designer in Practice, Janke has also served as a visiting studio critic at the Architectural Schools in Chicago (2018-2024).
Rendex's work has been honored, admired, and used as an example for many. In 2018, Rendex was selected to be a part of the Dubai Burj Khalifa Lower Lobby Interior Design Project.
